My turn, Lily!

Hi, it’s Cammie, ruler of the Byron-Remillong household. Last week I heard Mom going on and on about how this dog Lily was “soooooo cute,” and not gonna lie, I got kinda jealous. So I hijacked Mom’s computer to tell you about another pooch who is “sooooo cute.” ME!

First, a little backstory, as my mom calls it. I wound up as a pregnant stray at the San Pedro, California animal shelter. I was only a year or a year and a half old. 😰 The shelter knew that the Amanda Foundation, a rescue in Beverly Hills, takes in pregnant doggies, so I got transferred there. All my puppies got adopted right away but I didn’t … and then these folks showed up.

Big sis Eliza was out of town but she’d already pre-approved me, thanks to a shower of licks and tail wagging from you-know-who, wink wink.

So, that’s my back story. Now, a little about my current story.

Likes: Catching rays. Long walks at sunset, with plenty of breaks to sniff other dogs’ pees. Stealing socks. (My nickname is The Sock Bandit.) Destroying toys.

Dislikes: Mean people and empty food bowls.

Favorite human: Mom feeds me and walks me and gives me treats, so obviously my favorite human is… Daddy!

I might switch my allegiance to Mom if she ever put ME on the cover of one of her darn books. Okay, fine, I get the basset hound. Hard to compete with them. But peacocks?! A bear? A CAT?!!! Puh-leeze.

Whatevs. I still rule this joint. What’s that, Mom? You’d like your pillow back? Ha! You’re hilarious.

Uh oh. Mom is trying to dress me up as a reindeer for Christmas. I think she’s getting back at me for picking Daddy as my favorite human! Help!!!!!

Hey Lily, any chance you’ve got room for me at your place?

Readers, Cammie here with a question. If you have or have had pets, who’s their favorite human, and why?

  1. We had this stray momma cat abandon her 2 litters of kittens under our RV. The only one that would come to me was this little fella. First he let me pet him and then eventually hold him. He was always the hungry one and came running when I put the food out in the morning. The others took off after a while but not him. He knew that I would always feed him. We eventually officially adopted him and I named him Lil Fella. He has transitioned into an indoor cat quite nicely. He is such a sweet little snuggle bug. He will sit with my husband when he is watching tv but he always comes over to me when I come in the room and usually follows me where ever I go. He takes naps with me and stays snuggled in my arms. And yes I am the one that feeds him and takes care of him.

  2. Hey there, Cammie! It’s Koda. Mom is my favorite human for sure. She feeds me, takes me for car rides, gives me snacks (even when she says she isn’t going to – she simply can’t resist my puppy-dog eyes).

    1. Koda, hi! My mom does all that for me too. And yet… Daddy! Although when Mom has to go out of town, like to the millions of cons she’s always talking about and leaving me to go to, I freak. OUT. At least that’s what Daddy and Eliza call it. How does that song go Mommy likes? “You don’t know what you got til it’s gone?”

  3. I’m sorry your life is so rough. (Or is that ruff! Ruff!) Having to dress up like that is so horrible. And your food bowl gets empty occasionally? The horror. I can see why Daddy is your favorite.

    And you are cute, too.

  4. We had two cats. The first one we got was black and we named her Maleficent. She bonded to me, sort of tolerated my husband. The second cat was Max who was an orange tabby. We got him a couple years later. He liked both of us, but I think my husband just a little bit better. Long gone now, but not forgotten.

  5. I’ve had chicks, birds, a bunny, and cats (but only through relatives, since we realized we had a cat allergy in the household). We’ve also dog-sat a few times. Out of those, the animal that loved me the most (or at least let me cuddle it) was a…chick! Go figure…

  6. Hi, Cammie! Maria here. Keep up the good work. You are amazing just the way you are!

My favorite human is Dad. When he, Mom, and kids came to see me at the Humane Society, I decided I liked this family. As Dad was getting seated on the floor to introduce himself, I strolled over to him. He, and the rest of the family, was hooked from that moment. He’s also the one who feeds me, clips my nails, brushes me, and cleans my litter box, so I figure he’s earned his spot as Most Favored Human.

  7. Miss Ziggy’s favorite human is whoever will play tug-a-war with her when she brings them a stuffed toy. And of course, whoever gives her treats. So she’s fickle. (But truth be told, when she’s scared of something, it’s me she runs to. So I think that answers the question.)

  8. Ruh Roh, Cammie! Farley here. I love every human and dog and even cats. Except maybe my new little sister Aloha, who bing-boings around the house like a crazy cartoon cat and tries to snag every crumb of my Milkbone treats. Dad is my alpha, but Mom drops food on the floor a lot while she’s cooking. I do go to her when I’m not feeling well or during thunderstorms, but all those fancy obedience and agility classes when I was a puppy? I made a lot of friends but ha ha ha. Aloha and I are looking forward to the Christmas tree. We have plans. (PS Cammie, go for the 80s earrings–it’s like a golden-ring-carousel deal.)

    1. Lily!!! My mom says you Colorado folk could use a dose of our SoCal mild winters. Feel free to visit sometime. I’ve never seen snow and probably never will. Oh, well. At least I get to go to the beach! Wait, the one time I went, a wave hit me and I hated it. Dang. I guess I’ll stick to my backyard.

  10. For some reason I missed this post and in going through old emails, I found it and boy am I glad that I did! I love Cammie and all of the photos and can she write! I think that I am Texie’s favorite human because she is my “Moonshadow.” I feed her, play with her, talk to her, used to walk her a lot, we go to the mailbox together (she loves it when I yell out “Mailbox!” and is there in a split second), give her hors d’ oeuvres at Happy Hour (frozen meat bites), pill her, and so on. I am with her all day. But Daddy is with her all night and day. She does love him also. The other day he went on an errand without us and she cried. Maybe she does that when I leave. I think she just likes both of us to be there together. We do “Investimigation time” together (and it is spelled that way on purpose). I stand in the kitchen with her and say that and she runs to her Daddy who checks her teeth with a flashlight and says “Clear” and she runs back to the kitchen and I shout “Clear” as does her Daddy. She then gets a Dentallife to chew for her teeth and boy are they beautiful. So, I think that it is a toss-up.
