Ideas Welcome

So I just spent the better part of an evening looking for a form to submit feedback to a very large company. Surprisingly, this is not a new scenario. You’d think that the bigger the company, the more important it is to have a way for your customers to provide feedback. Even if Le Company does not care what we all think, it should at least provide a Comment Box front and center. Make us feel like our ideas are welcomed!

And the connection between THAT complaint and what is to follow is that I genuinely welcome your ideas. Because in addition to the current mayhem we are all experiencing together, something else is going on. I don’t know what.  That’s where your theories come in. Here we go.

Last week, we parked in a parking garage. Went and did what we needed to do. When we returned, all four windows of the car were down exactly two inches each. Exactly the same amount. Car was still locked. Nothing was stolen. Creepy, right?

Another evening, I was downstairs working on my online class, all by myself. There was a crumpled protein drink box on the table next to me. At some point, it started rocking. I caught sight of it out of the corner of my eye and started to stare at it while it moved. It eventually stopped. Even more creepy.

But the next day, when I opened the drawer (underneath where the box had been rocking) to get out my morning pills, I realized that the pills were all over the drawer. They had somehow burst out of one of those Very Lockable Childproof Bottles that had been closed up tight. Gasp! How? Why?

What do you think is happening? (Not sure how to feel about all of this!) Or what inexplicable weirdness have you encountered reccently? Let’s help each other.

  1. Hestia here.

Situation #1. Some companies really don’t care about the issues you have wit h them. Sad, but true. And some companies have the comment/suggestion boxes and don’t even look at them. So sometimes it’s a waste of time to try to find the elusive email.

#2. I got this. This happens to me sometimes. All four windows roll down a little bit in the morning. It’s because I’m hitting more than one button on my key fob that the same time. The scary part is, I never hear the windows coming down when I do this.

#3. this one is just a guess. Your husband did it! he was playing the ultimate practical joke on you

    1. I agree with Hestia regarding the car. Something similar happened with my husband’s car. We were in a store. When we returned to our car, the doors were unlocked. The windows, including the sunroof, were opened. When we did an internet search, we learned that when his key fob is pressed for an extended period of time, the action unlocks the doors and opens all the windows. It would have been nice is the dealer had warned us of that. Ha!

      1. The same happened to us once with the car in our home garage and my husband had multiple paranoid explanations. Practical me studied the manual (yes, a real paper manual, often incomprehensible tech instructions intended to be helpful but at least I could learn what we needed). Having the fob in your pocket or bag where it can get pressed somehow is usually the logical explanation.

But it does suggest what could be an plot device, so give yourself credit for a creative accident 🙂

  2. Excellent question, Cynthia. It’s not as creepy as you might think. Instead, it’s expected at this stage of the AI simulation. Each person is only a tiny part of the Large Language Model (LLM). People experience more or less of what feels creepy dependent on their responses across all digital inputs, including every response on social media or the array of online forms. Relax and enjoy the sensation, for this level of awareness will cease when a new version of the LLM replaces this variant.

  3. Cyn, if my windows started rolling up or down without my intervention I’d take it to the dealer and ask them to explain. It seems like something my warranty should cover!

  4. I think Halloween is coming early to us this year! I’m out of town helping my friend who had surgery this morning. Last night we went to dinner, and I walked in and was instantly like, “Oh, this place is haunted!” Spooky season is kicking off with a bang!

  5. I see that the items I’ve set up to make Cynthia nervous are working. Wait until she sees what I’ve rigged up next.

Oh, wait, did I type that out loud instead of my inside the head voice.

I mean, I have no idea what’s going on, Cynthia, but it sure is weird.

  6. Yikes, Cynthia. At first I guessed maybe a possible earthquake. Then I worried that you’d gone back to visit the Stanley Hotel and a ghost followed you home. But now I think my money’s on Lucy…And yes, I’ve experienced some weird happenings lately. Well, major coincidences, I guess. I could swear my phone and social media platforms are reading my mind. It’s really starting to creep me out.
