Fall is officially the coziest season, in my book. Yes, there’s winter. You could argue for it, and that’s fine. They are both cozy in their own way.
But I absolutely adore how a cool, crisp autumn serves as a most welcome transition from the blazingly hot summer months. So rejuvenating to the body and spirit!
Anyway, here are some of my favorite Cozy Things:
- Seeing the leaves turn gorgeous vivid colors and float down to the ground.
- Walking on a windy day as the leaves rustle along the sidewalk.
- Sitting next to the fireplace, being warmed by the flames.
- Holding a steamy cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa in both hands.
- Adding a soft and snuggly sweater, wrap, or blanket.
- Lighting a candle—especially cinnamon, pumpkin, or vanilla scented.
- Curling up with a great book (obviously a cozy mystery would be an excellent choice).
Please tell me your favorite Cozy Things in the comments…

Snuggle in a blanket with a hot mug of hot chocolate.
So great, Dru! Love it.
Good morning, Cynthia! Fun topic! One of my most favorite cozy things are slipper socks. Love them! Thick, soft, warm and comfortable. And safe, with those little plastic attachments on the bottom. Ha! I’m wearing a pair now. LOL!
Yes, Patricia! Running to grab a pair…be right back!
Lisa, LOL! Too funny!
Those are so much more snuggly than regular socks, you’re right!!
The best thing about fall is that it’s the beginning of soup season. Nothing goes better with a good book.
Tom Burns
Especially if someone else makes it, ha! My fave is Mulligatawny, yum.
Soup season is perfect!
The color of the light–how the low yellow sun casts such a beautiful sheen over the world. Love it.
Sitting at my reading nook, a book in one hand, a cup of good coffee on the other hand, abd furry bay on my lap – that’s my cozy! – Emily
Leslie, that’s a beautiful image perfectly described. Thank you for that.
Yes! Caught sight of the leaves at sunset yesterday, and it was so beautiful too. Magic hour indeed.
I love that cool snap in the air in the mornings and we can once again eat outside without sweltering. I do so enjoy sitting outside drinking my coffee in the sunshine! Plus I usually get motivated when the weather turns and actually tackle some of those projects I planned to spend the summer doing!
Completely agree! Such a good feeling when the cool brisk temperature arrives and energy returns.
I’m big on fleecy throws, cozy sweaters and the stunning (but way too early) orange/purple sunsets.
Excellent adds, Lisa!
Living in SoCal, we don’t get a lot of the markers for autumn. I really miss them. I used to love the leaves changing colors so much. But as we get into November, it does at least get cooler. And for me the best thing about fall is it means the holidays are coming!
Oh yes, good point: the holidays approacheth!
My favorite thing about fall is *everything*! Leaves, making chili, better weather, birthday month, Halloween. I love it all. Happy October!
Happy October!
Oh, yay! Happy October

Hestia here,
My favorite thing about fall is it’s now cool enough to heat up to the kitchen. Baking makes a home smell, well, homey. FYI, I found a chick cookie cutter. Might be one of the first things I make.
What is everyone’s favorite baking scent? My favorite is definitely vanilla.
Vanilla and cinnamon
Bacon! Oh. *Baking* scents…Chocolate chip cookies?
LOL!
Vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate chips and apples.
Mine is bread!
A Chick cookie cutter? Perfect for fall baking!
Everything you mentioned plus sweaters!
Sweaters = coziest!
I love cozy throws! And beautiful foliage, when I can find it. The other day, I made pumpkin bread, and that was a lovely way to begin the seasonal baking.
Pumpkin bread is top tier cozy baking for sure!!
I enjoy wearing sweatshirts. Casual, comfortable, and warm. Can’t get much more cozy than that!
So true!! So comfortable and soft.
Autumn means finally getting some cooler temperatures. I live in the Florida Panhandle, and we only get a few weeks of more comfortable temperatures so our AC doesn’t have to work so hard to cool the house.
Cooler temperatures are such a gift!
Once the high desert temperatures get cooler I can wear long slacks and sleeves again and add a light blanket to the bed. I’ll need it to be colder to actually wear sweaters, etc. I’m just happy it’s cooler!
For the desert to be cooler is really saying something!
Fall here in So Cal is Santa Anna wind season. I HATE wind. And the fires that often come with it only make the season worse for me.
While I do feel cozy on rainy days, especially when I don’t have to go anywhere, I really enjoy summer. To me, it’s the coziest season. But I love hanging out by the pool or other body of water. Life seems slower (even though it really isn’t) because I still associate it with summer vacation from school. It’s a nice, relaxing season. Plus, I enjoy warm weather.
Rainy days can be super cozy, you’re right! (And I understand the summer joy…agree that being near water is awesome.)
