The one in which Extra-Chirpy Chick does her best to build a case for Mondays. Inconceivable, you say? It’s all in how you look at things. Just grab your coffee and hear her out… Continue reading Monday, Monday: Writers Pandemic Edition
Sometimes it’s hard for us authors to believe we are really, truly…well, authors. What an honor and thrill that the words we tap onto our keyboards magically–or not so magically–become books that other people may read. We Chicks still pinch ourselves sometimes, but here are the moments we realized, Hey, this is real!Continue reading “The Moment We First Felt Like a Legit Author”
Lisa here, delighted and honored along with my fellow Chicks to welcome New York Times bestselling, Edgar/Creasey/Agatha/Anthony-award winning author Laurie R. King to the blog today. Read about RIVIERA GOLD, her latest novel featuring Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes–and a particularly nefarious real-life villain! Continue reading Guest Chick: Laurie R. King
Lisa here, and I’m so happy to introduce Jean Rabe, author of the newly pubbed THE DEAD OF JERUSALEM RIDGE, as our Guest Chick today! She has also been kind enough to offer our readers a chance to win a signed copy of one of her books, Winner’s Choice. Take it away, Jean! Continue reading Guest Chick: Jean Rabe
So it’s officially Monday and I’m at the keyboard, ready to plunge back into my manuscript-in-progress. Maybe “progress” isn’t quite the right word, but I’ve been thinking about it. And “plunge” might not be exactly the correct description, either. But I’m here, prepping to work, and that counts, right? Cue a few background bars of that inspiring oldie “Back in the Saddle Again.” On the other hand, please don’t. Continue reading Back in the Saddle (Again)

Anyway, he was outfit-shaming people for not looking “professional” enough for … Continue reading We’re Gonna Zoom, Zoom, Zoom-a, ZOOM!
Lisa here, with my annual St. Patrick’s Day post–because ’tis all life as usual, right? I had planned to fly straight from Left Coast Crime in San Diego to celebrate with my sister in Florida, where she is renting a house near the beach for a month. Things didn’t quite turn out, though, so here I am, lifting a cold mug of badly-brewed coffee to you from a very sober New England. We could all use a little levity right now, so here’s to you and here’s to me– let’s get the party started! Continue reading Cheers, It’s Virtual Almost-St.-Paddy’s-Day!
Yep, it’s cold, brutal, boring February. But there is one bright spot, in addition to watching Groundhog Day on endless loop: It’s International Typewriter Appreciation Month! Maybe you already know that, because I first wrote this post many Typewriter Months ago. But because I owe a lot to typewriters–in fact, I might not even be here on this earth without one–I thought I’d share it again.
